The Feel the Music charity concert is a yearly concert hosted by the Rotaract Club of NUST with the purpose of raising money for an identified financial charity cause. Proceeds from the concert are channeled towards charity and the sustenance of the event annually. This year’s edition is on the 1st of April and as we build up to the event, here are 5 things you need to know and, how much your support goes to making it a success:

  1. The End Goal

The 2017 Feel the Music concert is scheduled to take place on the 1st of April 2017. The concert beneficiaries have been identified as Bulawayo Shelter. Toilet facilities at the shelter are falling apart and require immediate attention in such a time where typhoid outbreaks are rampant. Furthermore, Rotary International has identified water and sanitation as a key area of focus and with this in mind, the Club believed this was a worthwhile cause. In our individuality and oneness as a global community, we’re bound by Ubuntu and hence it is our responsibility to look after our brothers and sisters, this is one way of doing it.

  1. Giving a Voice to Artists

So by coming through to the event, you’re not only helping out the residents at the selected home but you’ll have an opportunity to hear some of the city’s upcoming talent. The concert also serves as a platform for young and upcoming artists to showcase their talents in a conducive setup, to a diverse audience. This year will see a bigger line up with a promise of one or two established artists. Artists  include: Vocal EX, Gugu_Thelma, BlackLily, Dice, Crispen, Asaph, Super geeks, Salt and Light Chronicles, Luminous, NTM, One Spirit, Tribal therapy, Roxxy, Tbeatx, Mimi Tarukwana

  1. Service above Self

The event is hosted by the Rotaract Club of NUST, which over the years since its inception has done a lot of projects in the city and beyond. This is an opportunity to be a part of a bigger cause that helps a home through entertainment. Imagine someone sleeping in warm blankets after a good meal all because you danced & had a good time, or in this instance, someone living a healthy life because of well sanitized toilets. These are all outcomes that echo the Rotary four way test, especially the line, is it beneficial to all concerned?

  1. The Venue

The inaugural event was held at the Bulawayo Theater and this venue has since become home of #FTM. The theater provides a great atmosphere for these kind of events and has stage has the technical ability to help run such shows. Also, with its proximity to the CBD it enables everyone to attend the show and be guaranteed convenience in their travel arrangements. It also offers refreshments which is always a plus.

  1. What You Can Do

Well your attendance would be welcome, in fact it’s needed. For those that cannot physically make it, a simple donation will do. The Club also welcomes all forms of help in marketing and getting your friends and colleagues to come to this event which will only cost $3 for advance tickets and $5 at the door.
